The active 'tanning' ingredient in Liquid Sun® is DHA (Dihydrozyacetone), a non-coloured, naturally derived, sugar based derivative that when applied to the skin, causes a browning effect catalysed by amino acids.

DHA has been used safely in the cosmetic industry for over 30 years, and is FDA approved. DHA does not absorb past the surface (dead) layers of the skin.

When applied, the DHA in Liquid Sun® reacts with the amino acids on the skin to increase the carotene on the skin, and resulting in a 'tanned' effect (i.e. a faux tan).

The browning process only affects the outer layers of the epidermis or 'dead skin cells' and will only penetrate through 4-5 layers of the skin.

The DHA along will all of the other luxurious ingredients produce a beautiful faux tan which can last up to 10 days.

Liquid Sun® colour lasts between 3-10 days, depending on the individual and how the tan is maintained. The top layers of the skin are constantly being renewed, and your tan / colour slowly exfoliates away with these dead skin cells.

Ensuring your skin is well exfoliated prior to application, and following proper maintenance after application (including regular moisturising), will assist in prolonging the length of your tan and ensure it fades naturally.

In addition, when applying Liquid Sun®, you have instant colour which means you can see exactly where you've applied product. This helps you to create even smooth colour, and makes it much easier to check your tan once you've finished and to ensure you haven't missed any parts of your body.

The colour of your tan will be dependent on your individual base skin colour. For example, someone with paler skin will not go as dark as someone with an olive complexion.

As a guide, generally the colour is similar to what you could expect after approximately 8 solarium sessions (minus the skin damage of course!). You can expect a colour approximately 3 - 5 shades darker than your natural colour.

Yes, you can use Liquid Sun® even if you have fair or pale skin.

Just remember that if you are in this category, and either haven't been able to tan previously, or have chosen not to, that you may not be used to too much colour.

In this instance, go lightly with product application until you become comfortable with both the application technique, and the resulting colour. This will avoid applying an 'excess' of colour which may result in an unnatural colour for your skin type.

Alternately, and particularly for first-time users, you may wish to perform a test patch on your skin before doing a full body application.

Yes. Tanning your face will ensure that it blends in with your body colour and will give you a natural, healthy glow.

Liquid Sun® is dry to the touch within a few minutes. Dark coloured, loose fitting clothing* should be worn for 6 - 8 hours following application as tight clothing that rubs on, or against the skin, may cause uneven tanning.

Yes. Frequent swimming will enhance your body's natural exfoliation. Chlorinated water also tends to lighten the skin, therefore fading your tan quicker.

Yes, there are certain activities and products that will enhance or affect your body's natural exfoliation, and therefore affect your tan. These include chlorine / salt water pools and spas, exercise, long / hot baths and certain soaps.

This doesn't mean you are obliged to avoid these things, simply that you should be aware of them in advance, as they may affect how long your tan will last and will avoid any potential disappointment.

All USA research and testing indicates that DHA does not penetrate the skin, nor enter the bloodstream; and is therefore indicated to be safe for pregnant or breast feeding women.

Liquid Sun® uses a bronzer in the product so that you see 'instant' colour. This may come off slightly on your clothes (or bed linen), however has been found to be easily washed out when laundered.

Colour rub-off may be harder to remove from cotton or silk (natural fibres) but can be removed with ordinary 'Spray & Wipe'. Wearing dark, loose fitting clothing following application will assist in avoiding this situation and any potential inconvenience.

After you've waited 8 hours you may shower. You may notice a small amount of colour wash off your skin, however this is only the bronzer, and you're left with a gorgeous, bronzed glow.

TIP: Most people find that applying tanning in the evening and then showering the next morning is a convenient and practical tanning routine. This routine also works well in hot weather when it's cooler in the evenings and sweating can be avoided.

Yes! Liquid Sun® does not offer any protection from UV rays. You should always follow sun-smart practices when outdoors.
